Extend A Helping Hand to

A Cagayan Community

Nothing’s more despairing than having to go through a series of unfortunate events. This was the hapless case for the province of Cagayan towards the end of 2020.

On November 2020, Cagayan was placed under a state of calamity following the massive flooding brought by Typhoon Ulysses (Vamco). As the province is a largely agricultural land, many livelihoods and infrastructures have been damaged, and multiple lives have been lost.

All these happened in the midst of the pandemic, when strict quarantine protocols are in place and the economy is on lockdown, therefore affecting the stream of income of many Filipinos.

Among the many affected communities was Barangay Logung in the municipality of Amulung. Over 248 families and approximately 800 individuals who reside in the community experienced distress during the calamity.

To help alleviate the community’s difficulties, Primer Group of Companies, through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm and one of its companies Primer International Management Limited (PIML), organized a fundraising initiative in order to provide assistance to the community.

Called the Primer International Disaster Assistance Fund, this fundraising campaign aims to provide a safe bridge between Primer Group’s partners & principals, and the thousands of Filipinos, especially those from Cagayan Valley, and help them recover from the extreme flood.

The fundraising campaign was set up on a for-profit crowdfunding platform called GoGetFunding last December 2020 and ran for a full month. Within that period, CSR and PIML was able to collect via that platform a total of $2,426.00.

On top of what was collected via the site, partners and principals donated another $1,770, and 500 pieces of face shields.

The $4,196 total cash donations was used to purchase donation packs containing food items such as canned goods, milk, coffee, biscuits, noodles, and other goods, which were distributed to over 240 affected families in Barangay Logung last January 23, 2021.

During the distribution activity, many families were delighted to see the donation packs, some even teary-eyed upon receiving their items.

Municipality Mayor of Amulong Hon. Elpidio Rendon and other officials graced the event and expressed their gratitude on behalf of the community.

The support that Primer Group provided will definitely aid the community and serve as a helping hand as these families continue to overcome the challenges brought about by the multiple crisis they went through, according to the officials.

Primer Group CSR and PIML will continue to reach out to communities in need, and express their gratitude to all individuals who support the initiative and care about the plight of Filipino communities in need.

Sincerely ,

Your PRIMER International family
