Phase 2 of Primer’s sustainable tourism entrepreneurship program kicks off through intimate catch-up session with local community members
July 11, 2019
Primer Group of Companies proudly shares that Barangay Alas-as in San Nicholas, Batangas- one of the communities supported under the ‘Tubong Lokal’ program- has successfully piloted an eco-tourism social enterprise after six months of planning and collaboration with Primer Group volunteer-mentors, local volunteer-entrepreneurs, and partners from non-government organization MakeSense Philippines.
To further strengthen their enterprise and to support sustainable tourism and their livelihood efforts, Primer Group recently commenced the second phase of the program through a sit-down session titled “Kape, Kape; Kuwento, Kuwento” last June 22, 2019 at the community’s barangay hall.
In the full-day session, the community received tips on proper handling of community concerns through smart decision-making, conflict management, and capitalizing on individual strengths of each community member. Demonstrating these, Chief-of-Staff Noel Duldulao shared Primer Group’s humble beginnings, including how its five founders strode through almost 35 years: through resolving differences and practicing the company’s core values iSTEP (Integrity, Self-Discipline, Teamwork, Entrepreneurial Spirit, and Passion for Excellence).

Noel Duldulao also gave his word that Primer Group will be helping the community as best as it can. “Tutulungan namin kayo sa abot pa ng aming makakaya sa Primer at hihingi tayo ng tulong sa local government para sa iba pa ninyong pangangailangan. Sana ay patuloy tayong maging aktibo at tapusin natin ang programang ito. [We’ll help you as much as we can, and we’ll tap the local government for your other needs. We hope that the community continues to be active and that we successfully accomplish this program together.]”
Dubbed as ‘Life Skills Training and Capability Building Support Program for Sustainable Tourism’, the second phase of the ‘Tubong Lokal’ program shall consist of the following: first is “Personality Development and Values Formation”which shall help participants understand the importance of improved personality and good values in driving a successful organization; followed by a holistic training that shall develop the community members into self-sufficient and responsible social entrepreneurs who are fully aware of relevant tourism standards and are capable of implementing and delivering superior customer experience. This is a six-month program driven together with the Academy for Professional Excellence, Primer Group’s capacity building and skills training arm.
