DC Shoes and Grind’s Go Skateboarding Day 2019 takes over Cebu
September 02, 2019
Cebu has a thriving skating community which is largely responsible for producing some of the best skaters in the Philippines. Last June 21 and 22, the Cebu skate scene celebrated GSD 2019, organized by DC Philippines in partnership with GRIND Philippines.
This epic event kicked off with a Skateboarding Parade, which began in Fuente Osmena Circle and ended in Plaza Independencia. By evening, DC riders Alexis Ramirez, Shaun Paul, Tommy Fynn, and Cyril Jackson graced the event for a meet-and-greet, poster signing, and special Q&A with fans and media partners.
On June 22, exciting contests- Highest Ollie, Longest Gap and Push Race- challenged each skater to test their limits.
Following these contests are the most anticipated parts of the event: the DC AmCompetition (Amateur Competition) and the Pro Demo.
At the Pro Demo, Alexis Ramirez, Shaun Paul, Tommy Fynn, and Cyril Jackson showcased their skateboarding prowess and exhibited a plethora of skateboarding tricks.

At the DC Amateur Competition, which was the main event of the day, skateboarders performed one-minute runs that were judged on technicality, consistency, and creativity. Motic Panugalinog emerged as champion, followed by Jan Albert Alfaro and John Paul Horteza. The price pot for the competition is 20,000 pesos and the Champion was awarded a one (1) year rider contract with DC Philippines.
