An MVP in his own right: KaPrimer Sonny Jimeno shares what keeps his ball rolling in Primer Group
September 02, 2019
As KaPrimer Hoops Jam 2019 approaches, get to know Sonny Jimeno, one of the people behind this much anticipated basketball league in Primer Group of Companies.
Sonny has always been a hard worker for everything he cares about-career, sports, leadership endeavors in the community, business, and family- no matter how long or tiring these may be, while always keeping his lines open to lend a hand to those in need. These have therefore earned him the title “Aging Warrior”, as bestowed to him by friends.
Given his constant fire and burning vigor for the things that he’s enthusiastic about, Sonny found himself at home in Primer Group of Companies, as he says that the company lets him pursue his passion and at the same time, enhance his leadership skills, such as through heading the Primer Group Sports Club and the KaPrimer Hoops Jam.
Originally from York, he has known Primer since 2000, then officially became a KaPrimer in 2011. Today, he is currently working on shipping and importation under Primer International Corp. For him, 19 years do not seem as long as it seems, as everyday is memorable with Primer. “Sharing food with your lunch buddies and mentors is similar to exchanging ideas you’ll value throughout your lifetime. And who will not enjoy the scheduled employee sale, right?” he quips.
He may be quite one busy man, but after a long day of work, he makes it a point to relax by playing games or watching movies. He believes he truly belongs here in Primer as he loves to work and play!
“I play basketball 2-3 times a week, play golf once in two months, and travel on long holidays. I run the community as the Barangay Chairman in between. I sell roast chicken and pork on the side and I am also selling alkaline water during free time. I see to it that nothing will fall short nor will I sacrifice anything but myself to give my best, especially to my family.”
He has been through a lot, but he believes if not for the sacrifices he has made, he would not be the person he is today. He is very thankful to everyone who has been a part of his KaPrimer life. “I’m inspired by all the people who give me a hand, those who motivate me by giving bright ideas on how to be a better person, and those who need help or need a push. You just need to be strong for everyone under your wings. You will always be at home with Primer.”
What keeps him busy these days is the upcoming KaPrimer Hoops Jam, which is the annual basketball league of the Primer Group of Companies organized by the Sports Club and supported by the Human Resources department. This event aims to encourage teamwork – which is among the Primer Group’s core values – as well as friendly competition among its various employees.
