Primer Group celebrates Privacy Awareness Week 2019 with fun activities and informative talks

To help Primer Group employees (KaPrimers) keep their data secure and safe, the Information and Communications Technology- Governance and Security Team organized the Privacy Awareness Week 2019, a week-long celebration aimed at promoting the culture of data privacy.
From June 3 to 7, informative talks, games, activities, and contests were held in the Primer WorkPlays to spread awareness on the Data Privacy Act of 2012 and on each person’s rights with regards to their personal information.
The week kicked off with a gathering at the G/F WorkPlays attended by KaPrimers and Compliance Officers for Privacy (COP).
Primer Group’s Data Protection Officer, and Senior Vice President and General Manager Eric Sarmiento opened the gathering through emphasizing the importance of being aware of data privacy in Primer Group of Companies. He highlighted how valuable each customer’s data is, and that taking care of these is also one way of delivering superior customer experience.

Following his remarks were talks from the ICT-GSO team, who expounded on what Data Privacy means. Deputy Data Protection Officer and ICT Governance and Security Manager Cris Belejapa ran down the elements of the Data Privacy Act and pinpointed the persons who will help the company comply with the said law; while COP and Governance and Security Associate Thomas Kendrick Lim shared real-life stories on data breaches and gave tips on how to protect one’s self from breaches.
Finally, COP and ICT Head Sharon Ang left important reminders, thanked the audience for attending the event, and opened the snack area.
The rest of the week brimmed with fun-filled activities at the booth, and with contests such as an online Q&A contest and a social media photo challenge.
